HOWTO: Install the Zetafax Connector for GoldMine

This Zetafax technical note applies to:

Summary

This technical note describes the process to install the Zetafax Connector for GoldMine. The process involves the following steps.

1. Creating a GoldMine user which the Zetafax to GoldMine service uses to access the access the GoldMine database.
2. Update the Zetafax server and client installation (Inbound functionality).
3. Update the Zetafax Licence number to include the Zetafax Connector for GoldMine add-on.
4. Install and configure the Zetafax Connector for GoldMine (Outbound functionality).

Note: Before you can work through this technical note you must have:

1. Obtained a Zetafax Connector for GoldMine Add-on license. If you do no have this license number please contact Equisys or you Zetafax Distributor.
2. Downloaded the Zetafax Connector for GoldMine package from the Equisys website, http://www.equisys.com/zetafax_sppt8.htm and extract it to a temporary folder.
3. A password provided by with your Zetafax Connector for GoldMine Add-on license to access the download.

More information

Create a GoldMine user which the Zetafax to GoldMine service uses to access the access the GoldMine database.

1. Start up GoldMine and login as a user who has master rights (to create users),
2. Create a user and make a note of the name and the password

Update the Zetafax server and client installation (Inbound functionality)

1. From the 'Inbound' folder copy the following files to the zfax\system\i386 folder (where 'zfax' is the name of the directory where the Zetafax files are installed), over writing files if required.

2. Next copy over WKSETUP.EXE and Zetafax.chm to < Zfax> \SYSTEM.
3. Finally copy over ShareSetup.dll to Zfax\SERVER.

Update the Zetafax Licence number to include the Zetafax Connector for GoldMine add-on.

1. On the Zetafax server system run the Zetafax configuration program (Start|Programs|Zetafax|Zetafax Configuration).
2. On the left pane right-click on Licensing and Registration then select Modify/upgrade license details.
3. When presented with the Modify license details dialog box, click 'Install add-on' then enter your Zetafax Connector for GoldMine add-on number and click 'OK'.
4. Continue through the registration process as normal. Then exit from the Zetafax configuration program.

Install and configure the Zetafax Connector for GoldMine (Out bound functionality)

1. From the 'Outbound' folder run the setup.exe installation program, you should be presented with the welcome dialog box. Click 'Next> ' to continue,
2. Accept the license agreement then click 'Next> ' to continue.
3. When presented with the Custom setup dialog box click 'Next> '
4. You will be requested to enter Zetafax server information, enter a valid Zetafax username and the location to the system folder. (The default is normally C:\ZFAX\SYSTEM\) then click 'Next > '.

5. Next you will need to provide GoldMine credentials for Zetafax to access the GoldMine database files. Enter the GoldMine Username, Password, and the path to the GoldMine root installation folder (As below) then click 'Next > '.

6. Now the installation has all the required information, click 'Install' to start the installation process.
7.   Click 'Finish' to complete the installation.
