FIX: Unable to apply version 7 upgrade license

This Zetafax technical note applies to:

• Zetafax 5.5 and later

Symptom

During the Zetafax 7 upgrade of your system, you enter the version 7 upgrade license number, which is rejected with an error:

"Unable to apply upgrades to license. Please re-enter starter system license and upgrades"

Viewing the "Modify license details" dialog you notice the centre portion of your starter system license has been converted to "999999".

This problem only affects Zetafax systems licensed for more than 200 users.

Cause

The licensing model of Zetafax changed with version 7 causing all existing 200 user systems to be treated as unlimited. The configuration program check to verify this, did not correctly read the existing system license and treated it as a licensing violation.

Resolution

This issue is resolved by applying the Zetafax update (ZFUPD_V75191.EXE). This is available for free download from the Equisys web site www.equisys.com/updates for Zetafax 7 users.

Status

This behaviour was corrected in the above mentioned maintenance release.
