Summary

This technote provide steps which enable the manual configuration of the receive mode setting for Brooktrout devices.

The receive mode is set to 1 by default in the Zetafax Brooktrout device controller. This is the manual fax receiving mode and skips the initial CED tone of a fax message to speed up start up performance. There is an automatic mode which does include the initial CED tone and, in some instances, this can alleviate receiving problems.

To change this setting follow the steps below:

1. Request and download from Equisys Technical Support software update ZTN1969.
2. Shut down the Zetafax Server.
3. Rename the following file:

\\machinename\zfax\SERVER\DEVBTB.EXE

to

\\machinename\zfax\SERVER\DEVBTB.EXE_default.EXE

4. Copy the contents of the update to the Zetafax SERVER folder (\\machinename\zfax\SERVER).
5. Open the Setup.ini file (\\machinename\zfax\System\Z-DB\SETUP.INI).
6. Find the paragraph relating to the target Brooktrout device and add the following entry:

RcvMode: 0

7. Save the Setup.ini file.
8. Restart the Zetafax Server.
