HOWTO: Install the Zetalink Exchange Server 2000 components on a cluster system. Print ZTN2043 ID: ZTN2043 This Zetalink technical note applies to: Zetalink 2.0 Summary Previous versions of Zetalink were not designed to be cluster aware. Equisys has released Zetalink version 2.0 which has added support for Exchange 2000 cluster systems. This document is designed for network administrators who wish to install Zetalink 2.0 on a network with a Cluster server. More information Zetalink 2.0 has been developed to support Exchange cluster systems with the following recommendations: Only the Zetalink exchange components are installed on the cluster system and the other components (Zetalink database, User configuration website etc...) are installed on standard systems as documented in the Zetalink implementation guide. The clustered server has been configured for high availability not for load balancing. Only Exchange Server 2000 is supported on a cluster system. Zetalink is not supported on Exchange 5.5 server installed Windows NT 4 cluster system. The 'print to fax' feature available with Zetalink version 2.0 is not supported when the Zetalink Exchange components are installed on a cluster server. Installation The Zetalink server installation must be first carried out on non cluster systems as per the Zetalink implementation guide. After this has been successfully completed the exchange components can be installed on the cluster server. To install the Exchange server components the install program has to be run on each node within the exchange cluster. Work through the following steps: Run the Zetalink install from the CD, during the installation process specify that the Zetalink has been installed on another machine (as below) When prompted select only the exchange components to be installed on the system (as below). When prompted specify the exchange server name then click next (as below). The installation will continue as normal. Repeat the procedure on any additional nodes within this cluster server. Note: The registry settings under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Equisys\Zetalink will not be replicated between cluster nodes (i.e. it will not use the cluster registry). Under normal use this should not raise any problems. However, if the any of the settings such as 'Log To DB' are changed, these changes should be applied to all nodes within the cluster.
