PRB: Delivery and addressing details not populated in Zetadocs NAV client when printing in landscape orientation from RTC

Print

ZTN4119

ID: ZTN4119

This Zetadocs technical note applies to:

  • Version 4.0 of Zetadocs for Microsoft Dynamics NAV or later
  • Microsoft Dynamics NAV versions 6.0 R2 or earlier

Symptom

When printing a Zetadocs modified report from the Role Tailored Client (RTC) in landscape orientation, the delivery and addressing details (such as email address, fax number etc) are not populated in the Zetadocs Client.  They are instead left blank.  Portrait documents are not affected by this problem.

The above may occur when using Microsoft Dynamics NAV versions 6.0 R2 or earlier. When using NAV 2013 this issue should not arise.

Cause

This is due to print behaviour of landscape documents where any layout-page size discrepancies will result in the output being rescaled and re-rendered as an image.  Text data which Zetadocs relies on can no longer be interpreted.

Resolution

There are several options for a workaround:

  1. Re-format the report so it is intended to print in portrait orientation.
  2. If you wish to use landscape, try removing all borders and margins to ensure the layout matches the exact size of the intended page size e.g. A4 where dimensions are 210 x 297mm.  Even a slight mismatch may result in this problem.  However this workaround is not guaranteed to work in all cases.
  3. Run the report in classic client mode (runs from RTC but launches classic client silently).
  4. To do this, modify the report for the classic client (see installation guide - http://www.equisys.com/support/knowledgebase/documentationzdnav.htm )Remove the RDL code from the report so that it is run in classic client instead of the RTC.

Status

This has been identified by Equisys as a problem with the software versions given above.
