Zetadocs for NAV Objects
We strongly recommend that the current configuration is backed up for security reasons before updating your settings. The following steps will tell you how to back up the Zetadocs for NAV configuration before you upgrade.
- Open the NAV Classic Client and log on to the database.
- Navigate to the Administration tab > Application Setup > Zetadocs Setup.
- Select Export configuration data to save the configuration data to an XML file.
Note that all the reports that were created for Zetadocs version 4.2 will work with Zetadocs version 7.0 without any modifications. Therefore, there is no need to export them during the upgrade process. If the Sample Reports were imported in NAV they will be replaced by blank reports when importing version 7.0 of the Zetadocs for NAV objects.
- There are major changes in some of the integration and customize codeunits, please make a backup of the following NAV Objects before you continue with the installation:
- Codeunit 9009962 Zetadocs-Send Customize
- Codeunit 9009963 Zetadocs-Send Integration
- Codeunit 9009964 Zetadocs-Capture Customize
- Codeunit 9041211 Zetadocs-Save & Send
- You are now ready to import the Zetadocs for NAV 7.0 objects in your database. The instructions given here are for NAV 2013, for other versions you must pick the file that’s appropriate for the version of NAV you are usilig.
- From NAV, import the Zetadocs for NAV Objects – NAV7.00.fob file. You will be prompted to open the Import Worksheet – click OK to open the Import Worksheet. Please follow manual steps described in technolie ZTN4371 to upgrade the integration and customize codeunits.
Note: if you are using NAV 2013 R2 or NAV 2015 please follow additional steps in this technote ZTN4370, otherwise skip this note.
- Once all the Zetadocs for NAV objects have been imported, ensure that the configuration has been kept intact. Recover configuration from the backup xml file if needed.
Zetadocs for NAV Configuration Settings
The configuration for Zetadocs version 4.2 will not work for Zetadocs version 7.0 as some new settings are required. However importing the Standard configuration file will overwrite your existing settings and any company specific configuration that has been done. To avoid this we have provided a setup file which contains only the new settings and which will not affect your existing configuration.
Simply download the zip file, extract it and choose the xml file specific to your language:
- Zetadocs for NAV Configuration Update – English.xml
- Zetadocs for NAV Configuration Update – Dansk.xml
- Zetadocs for NAV Configuration Update – Deutsch.xml
- Zetadocs for NAV Configuration Update – Espanol.xml
- Zetadocs for NAV Configuration Update – Francaise.xml
- Zetadocs for NAV Configuration Update – Italiano.xml
- Zetadocs for NAV Configuration Update – Nederlands.xml
Then follow these simple steps to add the new settings:
NAV 2013, NAV 2013 R2 and NAV 2015
- Open the Role Tailored client and in the Navigation Pane select Departments > Administration > Application Setup > Zetadocs Setup > Zetadocs General Settings.
- You may be presented with a screen informing you that the RoleTailored client needs permission to run the Zetadocs.ExternalUtilities.ZdAutomationFactory, select Always Allow and then OK.
- Next import the Zetadocs configuration by selecting Actions and then Import Configuration Data.
- Browse to the downloaded configuration file and select Open.
- Next select Import on the Home tab to perform the import.
- You will be asked whether you wish to clear the existing configuration data, select No and then the import will complete.
NAV 5 and 6
- Open the Classic client and select Administration > Application Setup > Zetadocs Setup.
- Run the Zetadocs General Settings Form.
- Select Functions > Import Configuration Data, browse to the downloaded configuration file and select Import.
- You will be asked whether you wish to clear the existing configuration data, select No and then the import will complete.
Checking the Zetadocs Configuration for ZDNAV version 7.0
The inclusion of the Zetadocs Archive in previous version means that archiving is no longer simply on or off as before, as such the Archiving enabled option has been replaced with drop down menu to specify your archive settings. This defaults to Off so those with SharePoint archiving will need to adjust their archiving settings so the SharePoint archiving is selected. Those interested in using the Zetadocs Archive should consult the Installation guide for further information.
- Return to the Object Designer, select the Zetadocs General Settings Page (9041210), and click Run.
- Click the Edit button and select your Archiving method:
- Off - Zetadocs will not attempt to archive items.
- SharePoint
- Zetadocs Archive
- If you are using SharePoint for your archive, input your SharePoint site or site collection address as required, this is the bold section shown here: https://equisys.SharePoint.com/sites/MicrosoftDynamics/default.aspx.
Note: Please ensure that you have only included the site collection address and not the specific page reference which appears at the end.
- Once you have added a site address click the test button at the end of the field to verify it.
If you have activated Zetadocs Workflows and wish to view the approval status, check the Document Workflow option.

Typically for NAV 7.1 systems: Microsoft Dynamics NAV Server [DynamicsNAV71]
Typically for NAV 8.0 systems: Microsoft Dynamics NAV Server [DynamicsNAV80]
- Locate your product download and select the Zetadocs folder from the folder below:
\Zetadocs Express\Zetadocs NAV Server Components

For NAV 8.0 systems copy to: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\80\Service\Add-ins

Zetadocs for NAV Language Module
If you are using a language other than English, you now need to update the language module to ensure that Zetadocs is properly displayed in your chosen language. Note: If you are using NAV 2013 R2 or NAV 2015 you must carry out the additional steps in this technical note before proceeding with the steps below.
- In the object designer select the All view. Then using a table filter Version = *EQ* get the list to show all the Zetadocs objects and select them.
- IMPORTANT: Ensure all the objects are selected (highlighted) before continuing. Otherwise the language module may not apply correctly.
- Navigate to Tools > Language module > Import.
- Browse to your product download then to Zetadocs NAV Server Components\Language Modules\.
- Import the relevant language module for your region and version of NAV e.g. for a Dutch NAV 2013 system this would be the Zetadocs for NAV Language Module - NAV7.00NL.flm.
Zetadocs for NAV customised Forms
Zetadocs for NAV v4.2 had a particular way of modifying forms that is not supported in v7.0. To upgrade you customised forms please follow the manual steps described in technote ZTN4275. Keep in mind this steps assume the forms are unmodified so follow the steps by correcting the differences only.
For NAV2009 and later, if you wish to have the Zetadocs FactBox in NAV pages then you can choose to follow the manual steps in the technote mentioned before or the standard steps specified in the Zetadocs for NAV Essentials Installation Guide.
