FIX: Crystal Reports embedded commands are not picked up on 64 bit systems

ZTN1816

ID: ZTN1816

This Zetafax technical note applies to:

  • Zetafax 2010 with Crystal reports including v2008 (12) on 64bit Operating Systems

Symptom

Crystal Reports embedded commands are not picked up on 64 bit systems – this is not a problem for 32 bit systems. Making changes to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Equisys\Zetafax will have no effect e.g. Crystal+9check. This means embedded commands are not processed as expected.

Cause

Zetafax Client writes a registry key in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE in Software/Equisys. However on x64 machines keys are written by default to the " Wow6432Node" key. The Zetafax Client doesn't read the settings from here but still looks in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Equisys\Zetafax. This is a problem where users require specific registry settings e.g. Crystal reports users.

Resolution

There is a update available. Please contact Equisys technical support for details.

There is another associated known issue which is not resolved by this update, that when UAC is enabled the registry keys are not updated as they should. This results in the embedded commands not being processed as expected.

Status

This issue was corrected in Zetafax 2011.
