FIX: DID routing fails after upgrading from Zetafax 6 to version 7

ZTN1134

ID: ZTN1134

This Zetafax technical note applies to:

  • Zetafax Server 7.00.0.26

Symptom

Using a Brooktrout PRI (primary rate interface) solution with Zetafax 6.01, and the PABX is configured to pass redirect information as sub addressing in order to route faxes. After upgrading to Zetafax 7 the redirect information and DID (if the redirected line is received as DID information) is lost.

This document only applies to PRI solutions where the receive channels are configured through a PABX.

Cause

Zetafax 7 uses an updated version of the Brooktrout API that does not directly support this type of inbound routing.

Resolution

It is possible to return to the previous behaviour although not supported by Equisys, by editing the Brooktrout configuration file ISDN.CFG.

Using Notepad open zfax\SERVER\BTROUT\ISDN.CFG, where 'zfax' is the name of the directory where the Zetafax files are installed. Comment out all the ISDN configuration lines in the file by adding a '#' before each line.

Status

This functionality is by design.
