FIX: Related document search fails after upgrading NAV objects

This Zetadocs technical note applies to:

  • Version 5.5 of Zetadocs for NAV

Symptom

This issue only applies to systems that were upgraded from an earlier version to version 5.4 of Zetadocs for NAV and then upgraded to version 5.5.

There are two possible symptoms for this problem:

  1. After upgrading, the Zetadocs factbox fails to search for related documents with the following error:

  2. After upgrading, the set of documents returned in the Zetadocs factbox does not include expected results.

Cause

In version 4.3 and below of Zetadocs for NAV related documents were found by searching for all documents with the same archive id. This is a value that we assign to the record that we are archiving against, in a field which is added to the table called “Zetadocs Archive ID”.

In version 5 of Zetadocs for NAV we changed our method of searching for related documents to use a generated record link instead of the archive id.  This gave the advantage of not requiring the table to be modified to include the “Zetadocs Archive ID” field.

The upgrade to version 5.4 of Zetadocs for NAV involved switching over to searching for related documents using the record link instead of the archive id.

In version 5.5 of Zetadocs for NAV we reintroduced support for searching with the Zetadocs Archive ID so that upgrades can be performed from version 4.3 of Zetadocs for NAV without the requirement to update the Zetadocs SharePoint Extensions.  The logic used to decide whether to search using Zetadocs Archive ID or record link checks is the “Zetadocs Archive ID” field exists in the table.  If it does, we search by archive id.  This logic has introduced the above problem for people who have done both upgrades because the “Zetadocs Archive ID” field will exist in the table, but we want to search using the record link.

Resolution

This issue has been resolved in the Update rollup 5.5.289 of Zetadocs for NAV, available for download here.

Status

This fault was corrected in the above mentioned update.
