FIX: Service Pack 1 Critical Server patch
ZTN1548
ID: ZTN1548
This Zetafax technical note applies to:
- Zetafax Server 2006
Note: Zetafax 2006 Service Pack 1 is now available as a full download for Zetafax 2006 from the Equisys website. If you have installed Service Pack 1, you do not need to apply this patch.
Symptom
This patch resolves three server-side issues. These are as follows:
- ZSUBMIT crashes when it is set to reference a UNC pick-up directory that no longer exists.
- BTBINIT fails to exit in a timely manner, resulting in SYSMAN issuing a warning in the server log. Under some circumstances the customers Brooktrout boards also failed to initialise correctly.
- QueueMan crashes while attempting to access a .g3n file. Users may have seen this error message 'Unable to open file F:\ZFAX\USERS\FAXADMIN\Z-IN\~RECD487.G3N (1)'
Cause
The problem with BTBINIT was caused by the time it takes to apply firmware to TRxStream Brooktrout boards. In some instances, the firmware application process was taking longer than SYSMAN will wait for processes to start-up correctly.
The other two issues were caused by internal problems within ZSUBMIT and QueueMan.
Resolution
All three issues have been resolved by an update to the relevant components. The BTBINIT process now includes additional checking mechanisms to ensure that it exits in a timely manner.
Status
This behaviour was corrected by the updated components listed above.
