Technical Notes, Zetafax

FIX: Zetafax UK registration center number change

ZTN1067

ID: ZTN1067

This Zetafax technical note applies to:

  • Zetafax 6.00e and earlier.

Summary

On 22 April 2000 British Telecom implemented the 'Big Number' change. This affected the existing area codes in six cities in the United Kingdom. As the Zetafax UK registration center is in one of these areas (London) it affects the registration process, of systems in the UK or International systems that do not have a local registration center listed.

If you register a Zetafax 6.00e or earlier system or you have already registered your Zetafax 6.00e starter system then subsequently install an add-on pack, you will be required to register the upgrade by sending a registration fax to the local registration center.

As the area code for this number has changed in the UK, the registration fax will fail and you will be unable to send any faxes from your fax server when the 28-day grace period expires.

Resolution

By default the 'Licence registration details' dialog box will default to the telephone number of the nearest registration center.

If your country is not listed, choose Equisys International. The destination of the fax will then be Equisys, the manufacturers of Zetafax in the UK.

The number that appears in the 'Registration fax number' text box will be the number that is dialed by the Zetafax server. You must take into account any telephone number editing rules or dial prefixes you may have configured elsewhere in the Zetafax configuration program.

You will then need to enter either of the below details:

Country

Fax Number

Checksum

United Kingdom

020 7203 4005

JWWXIL

International (Equisys)

+44 20 7203 4005

EPPSMQ

Note: You will need to replace the '+' sign with the International dialing code for your country to enable the number to be accepted.

Click the 'Finish' button to complete the licensing and registration.

Your software will be registered when you successfully send a registration fax to one of the registration centers.

Should the 28-day period expire without registering the software, you will be unable to send any faxes from your fax server until you register the software. Each time you start the Zetafax server during this period it will issue a reminder stating how many days are remaining before the 28-day grace period is over.

In order to complete the registration process and register your software, a registration fax must be successfully sent to a registration center. The purpose of the fax is to forward the license and contact details to Equisys, the manufacturer of Zetafax.

Note: the Zetafax server requires you to have successfully sent one fax message (to any number) before submitting the registration fax. This is to confirm that it has been configured correctly.

The registration fax can be sent directly from any Zetafax client. During the 28 day grace period and until the software is registered, each time the Zetafax client software is launched, you will be prompted to submit a registration fax.

Status

Zetafax version 6.00e is no longer supported by Equisys. This issue is resolved with the latest version of Zetafax. If you wish to upgrade to the latest version of Zetafax please contact the Zetafax distributor for your country for more information or:
