ZTN1467
ID: ZTN1467
This Zetafax technical note applies to:
- Zetafax version 7.0 to Zetafax 2009
Summary
This technote will go through the steps required to configure an Eicon Diva Server card with Zetafax using CAPI.
More information
- Insert the Diva Server Card into an available PCI slot on your server.
- Start the machine and using the Eicon CD provided, ensure that you have installed the latest CAPI driver for your card. After the driver installation is complete, reboot the machine.
Open the Zetafax Configuration Console and add the CAPI device to Zetafax.
How to do this:-
- Right-click 'Devices' and select 'Add' from the menu
- This launches the Device Configuration Wizard
- Select 'Manually install other devices?' and click 'Next'
- In the available device list select an 'Active ISDN controller'
- Complete the other settings in the dialog as required
-
Configure the ports and devices.
For a simple setup, such as a single Diva Server BRI card you would typically add two devices (CAPI-1 and CAPI-2) both connected on controller 1, then continue on from Step 6. See Fig 1
However if you have a Diva Server 4BRI, Diva Server PRI, Diva Server Analog or if you have more than one Diva Server card, then continue from Step 5 below.

Definition of 'Ports' and 'Devices':
An ISDN or analogue line is plugged into a port on the Diva Server card, and this is the ‘port’ that is referred to in the Zetafax configuration program. The word ‘port’ is used interchangeably with the word ‘controller’ in the Zetafax configuration.
When you add a 'device' to the Zetafax configuration, you are in effect adding a fax modem.
Diva Server ISDN and Diva Server Analog cards are configured differently so please note the following information carefully:An ISDN BRI line can support two simultaneous calls, so you can add two devices to each BRI port.
A PRI line can support thirty simultaneous calls, so you can add thirty devices to each PRI port.
Analog boards are configured as a single port or controller with 4 or 8 devices depending on model.
Therefore:- The Diva Server BRI card should be configured as 1 Controller/port with 2 devices. See Fig 2.
- The Diva Server 4BRI card should be configured as 4 Controllers/ports, each Controller/port with 2 devices. See Fig 3
- The Diva Server PRI should be configured as 1 Controller/port with 30 devices.
- The Diva Server Analog-4P card should be configured as 1 Controller/port with 4 devices.
- The Diva Server Analog-8P card should be configured as 1 Controller/port with 8 devices.

Please Note: For a multiple card installation, remember that you will have multiple ports. For example, a machine with two Diva Server BRI cards will have two ports, each of which can support two devices, making four devices in total. Similarly, a machine with one Diva Server BRI and one Diva Server 4BRI will have five ports in total, each of which can support two devices, making for a total of ten devices.
e.g. A Diva Server Analog 4P and two Diva Server BRI boards installed in the same system: Fig 4

- After adding each device, proceed to configure it as required e.g. dial prefix, incoming user, etc.
- Close the Zetafax Configuration Program.
- Restart Zetafax server in order for the changes to take effect.
Please note: Zetafax provides support for Eicon Diva Server cards either via CAPI, or via the Eicon virtual fax modems.
Eicon strongly recommend use of the CAPI interface.
