HOWTO: Gather the Zetafax Checker Files

Summary

When troubleshooting issues, technical support may ask you for the “checker files”.  This is a group of information and configuration files which is gathered by a technical support tool.  This technote will cover how to gather these files, using the checker file tool, in the preferred method by technical support.

Open the Zetafax Checker tool by going to Start> Programs> Zetafax> Zetafax Tools> Zetafax Checker.

  1. Click in the attachments section at the bottom.  It does not matter which of these documents you select.
  2. In the upper right, click on the Save button.
  3. In the resulting window, select a location you can easily find and then, create a new folder in that location.
  4. When you are in that folder, save the info.txt into the new folder.
  5. Then, go to the folder you created and check the contents of the folder.  When saving, it appears as though you were saving one file,  however it saves all the files that were listed in the attachments portion of the checker tool.
  6. If there is only the info.txt, then the step of clicking in the attachments section in the checker was not completed, please repeat these instructions to save the appropriate files.
  7.  If technical support requested any additional logs with the checker files be sent, please locate those and add those logs to the folder you created.
  8. Please then zip the created folder and send to technical support.
