This technote summarizes the steps required to install Zetadocs for Microsoft Dynamics NAV v6.0 or later using Group Policy.

Installing Zetadocs for NAV using Group Policy
Those intending to roll out their system using Group Policy should first complete their Zetadocs Server install as per the steps in the Zetadocs for NAV v6.1 Installation guide. Once that is complete you should use the instructions in this section to roll out the system across your client machines.
Overview
- Make sure Dynamics NAV installed
- Setup Group Policy
- Group Policy will install Zetadocs for NAV
- Roll out extra settings. For example Language setting, update changes
Prerequisites
As Zetadocs for NAV is integrated with NAV, make sure Microsoft Dynamics NAV is installed on the domain client machines.
.Net Framework
Zetadocs for NAV requires the .Net Framework version 3.5 on each client machine that it is installed on. Our solution is dependent on the .net framework version 3.5. This will be installed on most systems already if they are using Vista or Windows 7. For machines that it is not already rolled out on it can be installed using a number of methods which are documented by Microsoft here:

Zetadocs for NAV Prerequisites
Zetadocs for NAV requires a number of third party components to be installed for it to function correctly. These are:
- Microsoft Office 2003 Primary Interop Assemblies (only required if using office 2003)
- Microsoft Office 2007 Primary Interop Assemblies (only required if using office 2007)
- Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable x86
- Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Tools for Office Runtime
The MSI versions of these 3rd party files that can be used with group policy have been provided in your product download in the following directory:

Zetadocs for NAV Client requires the SharePoint 2010 Client Side Components. The MSI version of this prerequisite is available in the following folder of the uncompressed package:
- X86: \
\Zetadocs NAV Client\ISSetupPrerequisites\{1400A185-B03A-4807-9DFF-B9BB326EA8EB}\SPClient_x86.msi - X64: \
\Zetadocs NAV Client\ISSetupPrerequisites\{1400A185-B03A-4807-9DFF-B9BB326EA8EB}\SPClient_x64.msi
To configure each of these components to install with group policy please follow the instructions below:
- Copy the files from the directory above into a shared network folder that everyone has full access to.
- Open the default domain policy in the Group Policy Management Editor.
- Go to Computer Configuration à Policies à Software Settings à Software Installation in the tree view on the left hand side.
- Right click on the Software Installation node and select New àPackage.
- Browse to the shared network folder and open the MSI file.
- A dialog will appear asking which deployment method to use, select Advanced.
- The properties dialog will appear. Change the name to something suitable then go to the deployment tab.
- Ensure that the Deployment type is set to Assigned.
Under deployment options ensure that the Install this application at logon option is checked. (If this checkbox is not enabled click on the Assigned radio box again)
- Click OK to complete configuration.
Zetadocs for NAV Components
There are four components to Zetadocs for NAV which will need to be extracted in order to use them with group policy. These components are:
Zetadocs PDF Printer
The Zetadocs PDF Printer installer is provided as a prerequisite of the Zetadocs for NAV client installer. The files can be found in the following locations:
- Non Terminal Services X64: < Zetadocs for NAV> \Zetadocs NAV Client\ISSetupPrerequisites\{FC2E20A1-C87E-4F96-B735-0BDE4889512C}\Zetadocs PDF Printer.msi
- Terminal Services X64: < Zetadocs for NAV> \Zetadocs NAV Client\ISSetupPrerequisites\{57DEA2B3-4752-4320-B968-413009091A1A}\Zetadocs PDF Printer.msi
- Terminal Services X86: < Zetadocs for NAV> \Zetadocs NAV Client\ISSetupPrerequisites\{D6C381E9-40F1-4EAF-8CCD-AAE13B213CA6}\Zetadocs PDF Printer.msi
- Non Terminal Services X86: < Zetadocs for NAV> \Zetadocs NAV Client\ISSetupPrerequisites\{A4FDB7AA-59B8-4CC9-B49A-2A3E96CB2A3E}\Zetadocs PDF Printer.msi
To configure each installer to run with group policy please use the following steps:
- Open the default domain policy in the Group Policy Management Editor.
- Go to Computer Configuration >Policies >Software Settings >Software Installation in the tree view on the left hand side.
- Right click on the Software Installation node and select New>Package.
- Browse to the product download and open the MSI file.
- A dialog will appear asking which deployment method to use, select Advanced.
- The properties dialog will appear. Change the name to something suitable then go to the deployment tab.
- Ensure that the Deployment type is set to Assigned.

Zetadocs PDF
The Zetadocs PDF installer is provided as a prerequisite of the Zetadocs for NAV client installer. The files can be found in the following locations:

\Zetadocs NAV Client\ISSetupPrerequisites\{FE8A4B83-A2F6-43AB-BC01-0301F92AF5E8}\Setup.exe
To configure each installer to run with group policy please use the following steps:
- Using a command prompt run the setup exe with /a as the parameter. This runs the installer in administration mode and allows you to extract all of the files to the shared network folder.
- In order to install Zetadocs PDF silently you need to change the current directory to the folder selected before and run the .msi installer with the /q /qn arguments: “Zetadocs PDF.msi” /q /qn
- Open the default domain policy in the Group Policy Management Editor.
- Go to Computer Configuration à Policies à Software Settings à Software Installation in the tree view on the left hand side.
- Right click on the Software Installation node and select NewàPackage.
- Browse to the shared network folder and open the MSI file.
- A dialog will appear asking which deployment method to use, select Advanced.
- The properties dialog will appear. Change the name to something suitable then go to the deployment tab.
- Ensure that the Deployment type is set to Assigned.

Zetadocs API Runtime
The installer files for the Zetadocs API Runtime can be found in the following locations:
- X86:
\Zetadocs NAV Client\ISSetupPrerequisites\{5212A720-C560-400F-A46B-36672060B4D2}\Zetadocs API Runtime.exe - X64:
\Zetadocs NAV Client x64\ISSetupPrerequisites\{637E8FC4-07F8-479E-A37C-C30C633F2EF2}\Zetadocs API Runtime.exe
The instructions for configuring the Zetadocs API Runtime in group policy are the same as for Zetadocs PDF.
Zetadocs for NAV Client
The installer files for the Zetadocs for NAV Client can be found in the following locations:

The instructions for configuring the Zetadocs for NAV Client in group policy are also the same as for Zetadocs PDF.
Once configuration is complete the group policy management editor should look like the screenshot below:
Permissions
The Zetadocs for NAV components require administrator privileges to install. To give these privileges please follow the steps below:
- Open the Group Policy Management Editor for the default domain policy.

In the left hand tree view go to Computer ConfigurationàPoliciesàAdministrative TemplatesàWindows ComponentsàWindows Installer

Edit the Always install with elevated privileges option.

Change it to Enabled and click OK.
Finishing client roll out
At this point, the group policy is in place and Zetadocs for NAV is ready to be automatically installed on all client machines present in the domain. The software setup will proceed when performing a reboot of the client machines.
Post installation steps
Zetadocs PDF Language selection
It is possible to configure the display language that the Zetadocs Client uses, as it is stored in a registry key. Therefore for non-English systems a change to the registry key will need to be rolled out in order to change the language.
Two files have been provided to assist in setting up this registry key change. The files can be found in your product download here:

To use the files provided please follow the instructions below:
- Open the group policy management editor for the default domain policy.
- Under Computer Configuration right-click Administrative Templates and selectAdd/Remove Templates.
- Click Add and find ZetadocsPDF.adm and ZetadocsPDFx64.adm.
- If you are using Windows Server 2003
- HighlightAdministrative Templatesand selectViewàFiltering. Uncheck the Only show policy settings that can be fully managed option.
- Under Administrative TemplatesàZetadocsPDFyou should now be able to see two Language settings. Set these to Enabled and select the language from the drop-down.
- If you are using Windows Server 2008
- Under Administrative TemplatesàClassic Administrative TemplatesàZetadocsPDF you should be able to see two language settings.
- Edit each of the language settings, enable it and select the language from the drop down.
IMPORTANT:As a post installation step, it is advised to roll out the software installation beforerolling out the display language change. If for some reason, the Zetadocs Client is not displayed in the desired language, it is recommended to:
- Change the language settings described above to a different language.
- Apply the changes.
- Reset the language settings to the desired language
- Apply the changes.
Upgrades
It is possible to perform upgrades using group policy. Each component will need to be upgraded separately by following these instructions:
- Open the Group Policy Management Editor for the default domain policy.
- Go to Computer ConfigurationàPoliciesàSoftware SettingsàSoftware Installation
- Follow the instructions provided above to add the new package.
- View the properties of the new package and go to the Upgrades tab.
- In the Packages that this package will upgrade section, click the Add button and select the package to upgrade.
- Click OK.
