HOWTO: Install the Zetafax GoldMine Add-on

This Zetafax technical note applies to:

Summary

This technical note describes the process to install the Zetafax GoldMine add-on. The process involves the following steps:

  1. Creating a GoldMine user which the Zetafax to GoldMine service uses to access the GoldMine database.
  2. Update the Zetafax Server and Client installation.
  3. Update the Zetafax Licence number to include the Zetafax GoldMine add-on.

Note: Before you can work through this technical note you must have obtained a Zetafax GoldMine Add-on license. If you do not have this license number, please contact Equisys or you Zetafax distributor.

More information

Create a GoldMine user which the Zetafax to GoldMine service uses to access the GoldMine database.

  1. Start up GoldMine and login as a user who has master rights (to create users).
  2. Create a new master user and make a note of the username and the password. We suggest using the username "ZETAFAX" to indicate that this user is responsible for updating the GoldMine database on behalf of Zetafax.
  3. Start up goldmine and log on as the user you've just created and make sure that it is connecting to the correct database. If this is not done, you will not be able to look up contacts from within Zetafax.

Update the Zetafax Server installation

  1. Run the Zetafax Server Installation. After the Zetafax Server Installation Wizard is complete, run the GoldMine Setup Wizard in the Zetafax Configuration (Start | Programs | Zetafax | Zetafax Configuration), and specify the new user you created in the previous stage. The GoldMine Setup Wizard will attempt to ensure that the specified user can log in. Where necessary, the Setup Wizard will also prompt for a SQL user name and password.
  2. On the Zetafax server system run the Zetafax configuration program (Start|programs|Zetafax|Zetafax Configuration).
  3. On the left pane right-click on Licensing and Registration then select Modify/upgrade license details.
  4. When presented with the Modify license details dialog box, click 'Install add-on' then enter your Zetafax Connector for GoldMine add-on number and click 'OK'.
  5. Continue through the registration process as normal. Then exit from the Zetafax configuration program.

Update the Zetafax Client installation

  1. Run the Zetafax Client Installation. When running the Zetafax Client Installation Wizard, it will automatically detect the presence of Goldmine on a system.

  1. Select the tick box to allow Zetafax to integrate with GoldMine, and click Next to continue.
  2. When prompted on the next page, enter your normal GoldMine username and password. If you enter a GoldMine user with Master rights, all GoldMine users will have Zetafax functionality integrated into their GoldMine application. If you enter a GoldMine user without Master rights, only that user will have Zetafax integrated into GoldMine. Also verify that the GoldMine Root Install Folder specified is correct. Click Next to continue.

  1. If you are using an SQL database, you will also be required to enter your SQL username and password when prompted. If you are not sure what this is, check with your system administrator. Once you have entered the details, click Next to continue.

  1. Installation will continue as normal, updating your Zetafax System.
