HOWTO: Installing Zetadocs PDF in a Terminal Services environment

Summary

This technical note describes how to install the Zetadocs PDF application on a Terminal Server so that the Zetadocs Client and Office 2007 addins are available to all users.

In Zetadocs PDF 5 and later, the following components of the Zetadocs Client application can be used in a Terminal Services environment:

  • Zetadocs Client
  • Outlook 2007 extensions
  • Word 2007 addin
  • Excel 2007 addin

To install the Zetadocs PDF application on a Terminal Server, please do the following:

  1. Log onto the Terminal Server machine locally as an administrator.
  2. Bring up a command prompt.
  3. Type the following:
    change user /install
  4. This puts the Terminal Server into install mode.
  5. Still at the command prompt, change to the folder that contains the setup.exe file.

    Type the following:
                setup. exe /V" ALLUSERS=1 /L*v %TEMP%\ZDClientInstall.log"

  6. This runs the Zetadocs PDF installer for all users.
  7. Run through the installer UI as you would normally.
  8. When the installer is complete, type the following at the command line:
                change user /execute

Changes need to be made to the registry keys to ensure that the Office 2007 addins will be activated correctly for all users.

Registry Editor warning

WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Equisys cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved.

For information about how to edit the registry, view the " Changing Keys and Values" Help topic in Registry Editor (REGEDIT.EXE) or the " Add and Delete Information in the Registry" and " Edit Registry Data" Help topics in REGEDT32.EXE. Note that you should back up the registry before you edit it. If you are running Windows NT or Windows 2000, you should also update your Emergency Repair Disk (ERD).

The following steps will guide you through the registry changes:

  1. Log onto the Terminal Server machine locally as an administrator.
  2. From the start menu, click Run...
  3. Type the following:
                            regedit
  4. Click OK.
  5. In the Registry Editor, navigate to the following registry key:
                            HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\12.0\User Settings\
                            Word_Core\Create\Software\Microsoft\Office\Word\Addins\ZetadocsWordAddin
  6. Locate the Manifest registry key.
  7. The addins manifest is installed in the common files area. Typically, it is located in “C:\Program Files\Common Files\Equisys\Office
  8. Right click on the Manifest key and select “Modify”.
  9. In the “Value data” field, enter the location of the OfficeAddin.Word.dll.manifest file in the common files area. Typically, the value is : C:\Program Files\Common Files\Equisys\Office\OfficeAddin.Word.dll.manifest
  10. Ensure that the “LoadBehavior” registry key is set to a value of 3. If it isn’t, modify the value to 3.



  11. Navigate to the following registry key:
                       HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\12.0\User Settings\
                       Excel_Core\Create\Software\Microsoft\Office\Excel\Addins\ZetadocsExcelAddin
  12. Locate the Manifest registry key.
  13. Right click on the Manifest key and select “Modify”.
  14. In the “Value data” field, enter the location of the OfficeAddin.Excel.dll.manifest file in the common files area.

  15. Ensure that the “LoadBehavior” registry key is set to a value of 3. If it isn’t, modify the value to 3.

  16. Navigate to the following registry key:
                            HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\12.0\User Settings\
                            Outlook_Core\Create\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\ZetadocsOutlookAddin
  17. Locate the Manifest registry key.
  18. Right click on the Manifest key and select “Modify”.
  19. In the “Value data” field, enter the location of the OfficeAddin.Outlook.dll.manifest file in the common files area.
  20. Ensure that the “LoadBehavior” registry key is set to a value of 3. If it isn’t, modify the value to 3.
