ID: ZTN1616

This Zetafax technical note applies to:

  • Zetafax 2007
  • Microsoft Exchange Server 2007

Summary

This technical document describes the steps involved to manually remove the Zetafax Connector from Exchange Server 2007.

This consists of the following steps:

  • Remove the connector object from Active Directory.
  • Remove the ‘Drop' folder from the Exchange server.
  • Turn off folder sharing on the ‘Pickup' folder on the Exchange server.
  • Remove the Zetafax mail contact using the Exchange Management Console.

More information

  1. Run Exchange Management Shell on the Exchange Server 2007 machine.
  2. Enter the following command at the prompt followed by the Enter key:

    Get-ForeignConnector | format-list

A list of connectors will be returned.

  3. Locate the Zetafax connector which you had previously installed.  Make a note of the “Identity” field which will be referred to in the next step (< Connector Identity> ).

  4. Enter the following command at the prompt followed by the Enter key:
    Remove-ForeignConnector –Identity “< Connector Identity> ”
  5. You can now remove the ‘drop' folder on the Exchange server which was created during the connector installation.  The default location as suggested in this technical note: http://www.equisys.com/technotes/ztn1565.htm is C:\Program Files\Zetafax Exchange 2007\drop\
Delete the folder named ‘Zetafax Exchange 2007'.  If the folder is still shared it will return a warning message, you can ignore this and continue with the deletion.
  6. Zetafax will also use a ‘Pickup' folder on the Exchange server.  It is a part of Exchange and should not be deleted.  However you may wish to disable it as a shared folder.

The default location of this folder is: \Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server 2007\TransportRoles\Pickup
Right click on the ‘Pickup' folder and select ‘Sharing and Security' from the menu.  On the new window select ‘Do not share this folder' and then click OK.
  7. A Mail Contact may have been created to compatibility for mail accounts in cached mode (see ‘Setting up cached mode compatibility' in http://www.equisys.com/technotes/ztn1565.htm ). The mail contact can be deleted in the Exchange Management Console.  Expand Recipient Configuration and select ‘Mail Contact'.  The default name is ‘Zetafax' but the contact can also be identified by having an external email address as ‘FAX:*'.
Right click on the mail contact and select Remove.
