HOWTO: Setup Outlook Integration using the Outlook Object Model

  • Outlook 2007 and later

Summary

This technote describes the steps required to configure the Zetadocs Client to integrate with Outlook using the latest Outlook Object Model instead of an earlier integration method.

The Zetadocs Client has been updated to use the Outlook Object Model following updated advice from Microsoft on how to use Outlook to send emails. This method is used if you choose the "Send via Outlook 2007, 2010, 2013" option and provides a more robust solution. Additionally the Zetadocs Client will work with 64 bit Outlook using this option.

For Outlook 2003 the client continues to use our earlier integration method.

Email Integration Settings

  1. Open the Zetadocs Client and select Tools> Options.
  2. The Options window will appear, select the General Tab.

  3. In the Email Integration section there are two options for Outlook integration:      
    • Send via Outlook 2007, 2010, 2013           (Uses the Outlook Object Model)
    • Send via Outlook 2003
  4. Choose the one which reflects your Outlook version and select OK.

Please note: Using latest Outlook Object Model has the potential to display warning messages in Outlook, if you do not have valid up to date Antivirus software installed on your system. In this instance it is recommended that you either update your antivirus or use Redemption, by choosing the Send via Outlook 2003 option shown above, even if you are using a more recent 32 bit version of Outlook 2007, 2010, 2013.
