This Zetadocs technical note applies to:
- Zetadocs for Microsoft Dynamics NAV v3.0
Summary
This technote outlines the performance of a Zetadocs for NAV system using the minimum recommended specifications. This should help when choosing the appropriate hardware setup for sending large batches.
More information
Using Zetadocs for NAV v3.0 the time taken to load and send a number of differently sized batches was recorded. All tests were carried out on a minimum specification 2GHz Pentium 4 processor PC, with 1 GB RAM and running Windows XP SP2 and Outlook 2007. Each batch was generated by sending Sales Orders from Microsoft Dynamics NAV using Zetadocs, delivering by email and archiving to SharePoint. Each single page Sales Order had typical stationery applied (88KB) and a two page attachment added (582KB).

To reduce the time taken to send batches you can consider using a faster processor, reducing the size of stationery or reducing the size of attachments. For example the total time to send 5000 Sales Orders is 42 minutes on a higher specification 2.4GHz AMD Athlon X2 240 processor PC, with 4 GB RAM and running Windows XP SP2 and Outlook 2007.
What is the maximum batch size I can send using Zetadocs?
The maximum batch size is dependent upon the physical memory available when printing, and the documents that are being printed. Multiple page reports or reports with graphics will require more memory than single page reports with plain text.
