INFO: Enabling detailed logging within Zetadocs Archive Service

ZTN4586

This Zetadocs technical note applies to:

  • Zetadocs Archive Service

Summary

For any Zetadocs Archive Service issues, logs can be created. These are required to gather more detailed debugging information.

More information

First, you need to activate debug logging within the configuration file and secondly locate the log for analysis.

  1. Check if the Zetadocs Archive Service is running and that the user you are signed in as has permission to stop/start this service.
  2. If so, navigate to the Archive Service configuration file and open it with a text editor. This should be stored in the below location
    1.  C:\Program Files (x86)\Zetadocs Archive Service\Zetadocs.Archive.Service.exe.config
  3.  With the config file open in a text editor, amend the following line to "Debug" instead of "Warning" or "Error": <add key="LogLevel" value="Warning"/>
  4.  Once the change has been made, save the configuration file and restart Zetadocs Archive Service, then reproduce the issue. It will then generate a log file in temp folder of the user running the Zetadocs Archive Service. This can be accessed by logging on as that user and browsing to %temp%. Alternatively, if the user is a system user, the location may be here: C:\Windows\Temp\Zetadocs

NOTE: Once the logs have been gathered, we advise amending the configuration file so the LogLevel is returned back to "Warning" to prevent extensive logs from being generated on the server.
