Symptom

During the installation of the SharePoint Extensions a message appears telling you that an error occurred while deploying the Content Types and Columns. You are instructed to retract and redeploy the SharePoint extensions.

Cause

This problem is most likely caused by a timing issue within SharePoint and the Zetadocs SharePoint Extensions.

Resolution

To workaround this issue, you should Retract, Re-deploy and Re-activate the appropriate solution. To do this, please perform the following steps:

  1. Log onto your SharePoint portal using an administrative account.
  2. Browse to the root site.
  3. Go to Site Actions --> Site Settings --> Modify All Site Settings.
  4. Click on Site Collection Features under the Site Collection Administration column.
  5. Find the Zetadocs xxx Content Types feature; where xxx may be either 'GP' or 'NAV'.
  6. Deactivate this feature.
  7. Go to the start menu and select Run and enter services.msc
  8. Scroll through the list of services and ensure the Windows SharePoint Services Administration service is running.
  9. Launch the SharePoint Central Administration program.
  10. Click on the Operations tab and select the Solution Management option from the Global Configuration section.
  11. Find either the NAVCTs.wsp or GPCTs.wsp entry in the list of solutions (depending on whether you are integrated with NAV or GP.
  12. Retract this solution.
  13. Deploy the solution again (accepting the default deployment options).
  14. Activate the feature on the front-end SharePoint portal by repeating steps 1 to 6 above (this time selecting the Activate rather than the Deactivate option.

In some instances, it has been reported that the above workaround does not work. In these cases, please contact technical support for further information.
