PRB: Factbox error 'Zetadocs could not search for the documents' with Zetadocs Business Central extension v1.2.20216.15
ZTN4544
This Zetadocs technical note applies to:
- Zetadocs Delivery and Capture Extension version 1.2.20216.15 (both Business Central Cloud and on-premises systems)
Symptom
When opening a page with the Zetadocs Document Factbox using the version of the extension listed above, an error is displayed instead of the related documents for the record. The error is as follows:
'Zetadocs could not search for the documents. Please contact your Administrator.'
This error occurs consistently for this version of the extension.
Cause
This issue was caused by a bug in the specified version of the extension.
Resolution
The issue has been rectified from version 1.2.20230.15 of the extension (due to be published to AppSource either w/c 17th August 2020 or w/c 24th August 2020, for Business Central on-premises systems the extension is available from the Software Updates page ).
An alternative workaround is available in the interim if the updated extension is not available at the time.
Please note that this will impact performance of the Documents Factbox and should NOT be kept in place once the updated extension is made available.
To apply the workaround, follow these steps:
1. Navigate to the 'Zetadocs System Settings' page.
2. Add a boolean value 'ForceSearchAsync' to the page and set this value to false.
This will force the Documents Factbox to use a synchronous method to search for related documents, which, as stated, impacts performance.
This workaround should NOT be applied if you have updated to version 1.2.20230.15 or later of the Zetadocs Delivery and Capture Extension.
Once version 1.2.20230.15 or later of the extension has been applied, please ensure you remove the boolean value to restore performance:
1. Navigate to the 'Zetadocs System Settings' page.
2. Remove the boolean value 'ForceSearchAsync' from the page.
Status
This issue is resolved in version 1.2.20230.15 of the Zetadocs Delivery and Capture Extension.
