PRB: Fax Wizard does not pop-up when Enhanced Security Applied
ZTN1551
ID: ZTN1551
This Zetafax technical note applies to:
- Zetafax 9 and later.
- Terminal Service Environments (Windows and Citrix).
Symptom
When printing to the Zetafax printer in a "mixed mode" terminal services environment, the Fax Wizard does not appear and you are unable to address the fax.
Mixed mode in this instance is used to describe when the application e.g. Word, is running in the terminal session and Zetafax is running on the desktop.
Cause
There may be a number of reasons the above symptom may appear on a system. This article focuses on a known incompatibility in a "mixed mode" environment with the Zetafax printer, when Zetafax Enhanced security is applied.
In a "mixed mode" terminal services environment, the Zetafax printer output is redirected to their users' area on the Zetafax server (%USER%) as opposed to the users' default temp area on the terminal server (%TEMP%). Once Zetafax Enhanced security is applied, the user area on the Zetafax server is no longer accessible to the Zetafax printer and therefore the Fax Wizard is not presented to the user.
Resolution
Run the Zetafax client in the terminal session along with the published application.
Follow the instructions below if you have Windows 2000 or Windows 2003 Terminal server.
HOWTO: Enabling 'Print to Fax' with published applications in Windows 2000/2003 terminal services
OR
Follow the instructions below if you have Citrix Terminal Server.
Status
This has been identified by Equisys as a problem with the software versions given above.
