PRB: QuickTime prevents the Zetafax Web Client displaying faxes
ZTN1249
ID: ZTN< nnn>
This Zetafax technical note applies to:
- Zetafax 8.0.0.104
Symptom
When a using the Zetafax web client to view a fax Internet Explorer displays the QuickTime logo in the middle of a blank screen (as below).
Cause
QuickTime registers itself as the application used to display MIME type images/tiff, but it is unable to display the multi-page TIFF format used by faxes.
Resolution
To display faxes correctly you have to remove QuickTime's association with the images/tiff MIME type. Once you have done this Windows will use Imaging or Windows XP's "Windows Picture and Fax Viewer" to display the fax.
To resolve the issue take the following steps:
- Right-click on the logo in the middle of the Internet Explorer window and select "Plug-in Settings..." or run the QuickTime applet from the control panel.
- Choose "Browser Plug-in" from the drop-down box, and then click the "MIME Settings..." button.
- Expand the "Images" box in the tree, and then uncheck the "TIFF image file" option (as below).
- Close the QuickTime applet and reboot your machine.
Status
This has been identified by Equisys as a problem with the software versions given above.
