PRB: Zetafax 2007 Combined Client installer does not detect Terminal services

This Zetafax technical note applies to:

  • Zetafax version 2007
  • Windows Terminal services including the Citrix Presentation server add-ons

Symptom

The Zetafax Client programs are only available to the user which ran the Zetafax 2007 Combined Client installer. It does not appear installed for all other user sessions.

Cause

The Zetafax 2007 Combined Client installer does not correctly detect that it is being installed on a Terminal server and installs for the current user only.

Resolution

Zetafax Client

For sites that only require the Zetafax Client, we recommend manually creating the Zetafax Program group by following the steps below.

  1. Logon to the Terminal server as a Domain Admin.
  2. Open Windows Explorer and browse to C:\Documents and Settings\< Installing_User> \Start Menu\Programs (where < Installing_User> is the user that ran the 2007 Combined Client installer).
  3. Copy the Zetafax Program group to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup.

The Zetafax Client program shortcuts will now be available to all users that logon to the Terminal Server.

Zetafax Outlook Client

Instruct users to use the Outlook Contacts Business fax address or manually address emails as follows so they are passed to the Zetafax Connector:

[FAX: < Name> @< Organisation> @< Fax_Number> ]

e.g. [FAX: Sam Smith@Smith and Sons@02072034000]

Status

This has been identified by Equisys as a problem with the software versions given above.
