NAVUG Summit: the exciting opportunities offered by Extensions

In April this year I had the pleasure of attending my first NAVUG Summit – NAVUG Summit EMEA in Amsterdam. I wanted to share our experiences of developing NAV add ons in the cloud, and weigh up the advantages and disadvantages of cloud based add ons when compared to traditional methods of customizing NAV.
This week, I am honored to be invited to speak at NAVUG Summit in Nashville, Tennessee to share our experiences of cloud-based add ons with a North American audience. I found the delegates at the European conference to be incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about NAV, however I’m expecting a different scale altogether at the conference in Nashville.
In my session, entitled "Cloud-based Add-ons: What they mean for your Dynamics NAV environment", I will compare and contrast options for adding functionality to NAV and compare approaches you can take, including NAV extensions. The maturity of the cloud and SaaS offers a not only a viable alternative to customising NAV, it can also offer other advantages such as automatic updates and the ability to consume other cloud services.
