Feature enhancements

Simpler installation with on-premises Business Central systems

We have simplified installation for companies using an on-premises Business Central system.  Previously if you were running an on-premises Business Central system you had to configure your corporate firewall so that the Zetadocs Expenses service could communicate with the Business Central server.  Now this communication can be handled instead by the Zetadocs Expenses Connector Service, a Windows application which runs on a computer within your company network.

This avoids having to change your firewall to allow inbound traffic to reach the Business Central server, and removes the need to configure a secure inbound connection using an SSL certificate.

This feature requires the Extension for Business Central and Zetadocs Expenses Connector service to be upgraded to the version in this release or later.

Support for Windows authentication

On-premises Business Central systems which use Windows authentication can now be used with the Zetadocs Expenses Connector Service, as an alternative to configuring a web access key.  The authentication method used is configured in the company settings screen in the admin site.

This feature requires the Extension for Business Central and Zetadocs Expenses Connector service to be upgraded to the version in this release or later.

Combined download for on-premises Business Central systems

The Zetadocs Expenses Connector download now includes all the components which are needed to connect an on-premises Business Central or NAV Server system to the Zetadocs Expenses service.  The download includes the following components:

  • Connector Service
  • Business Central Extensions
  • NAV Server Components

Support for code-customized Business Central systems

The Zetadocs Expenses Extension now supports use with highly customized on-premises installations of Business Central which use the code-customized extension mechanism.

This feature requires the Extension for Business Central to be upgraded to the version in this release or later.

Improved description for exported reports

We have increased the length of the description text which the system sets when exporting an Expense Report to Business Central.  The system will now use the full available length (typically 100 characters), rather than truncating the text to 50 characters.

This feature requires the Extension for Business Central to be upgraded to the version in this release or later.

Feedback options in Zetadocs Expenses app

We have added two new options to the Zetadocs Expenses app so that users can suggest a feature or send other feedback about the product.  All feedback will be read by the product manager, and will be used to help us prioritize the new features and other changes we include in each update.

Home screen improvements for cardholders

We have improved the home screen in the Zetadocs Expenses app for cardholders of company payment cards.  This now shows the number of new unmatched payments on the card, and includes an action button to display the list of new payments for editing.

Quality and performance improvements

This update includes a number of quality and performance improvements, including the following:

Prevent export failure with long description fields

We have improved the export behavior to prevent Expense Report export failures if the description text for any expense is too long.

On Business Central systems using the version of the Extension for Business Central in this release (or later), the exported description will now be truncated automatically if required to fit the available space in Business Central.  This is typically 100 characters.

On Business Central systems using an older version of the extension or NAV Server systems, the exported description will now be truncated to 43 characters to ensure it does not exceed the available space after adding a standard suffix for adjustment lines.

Use on systems with rounding precision set to zero

When exporting an Expense Report the system uses the NAV rounding precision setting to determine whether to allow a difference between the expected and calculated sales tax amounts.

Previously if the rounding precision was set to 0.0 then any rounding error would cause the export to fail.  This has now been changed for NAV Server systems so that a value of 0.01 is used in this case, removing the need to adjust the setting to avoid intermittent export failures.  This means that the NAV Server Components now match the behavior of the Extension for Business Central.

This feature requires the NAV Server Components to be upgraded to the version in this release or later.

Additional upgrade steps

Extension for Business Central

Customers using the extension with a Business Central public cloud system should update this from Microsoft AppSource.  Updates are typically published on AppSource within ten working days of release for systems using the current version of Business Central.  Updates for older versions of Business Central may also be available, depending on the Microsoft support and update policy at the time of release.  You can check whether the update is available for your system by comparing the AppSource version number with the version number listed above.

Customers using the extension with a Business Central on-premises system can download the extension from the Equisys software updates page, as part of the Zetadocs Expenses Connector download package.

To upgrade from an older version of the extension please contact your Business Central reseller, or contact Equisys for further assistance if required.

This release is compatible with previous versions of the Extension for Business Central.

NAV Server Components

Customers using Zetadocs Expenses with an NAV Server system can download the NAV Server Components from the Equisys software updates page, as part of the Zetadocs Expenses Connector download package.

To upgrade an NAV system which is using an older version of the NAV Server Components, follow the instructions in this technote.  Please contact Equisys for further assistance if required.

This release is compatible with previous versions of the NAV Server Components (versions 3.3.18178 and later).
