This article describes the new features and other improvements in the May 2024 update of the Zetadocs Expenses service.

Feature enhancements

Support allowance expenses for future dates

Allowance Expenses enable users to claim a daily allowance for business travel.  The system administrator can configure different rates for different types of travel, or for different people, to match their company expense policy.

Previously you could only claim allowances for past dates, just like standard payment expenses.  If you created an allowance expense for a future date it was marked with a validation error which prevented it being submitted for approval.

We have now relaxed this restriction so you can set the start and end date for these expenses to a future date.  This allows use in companies which allow users to claim allowances in advance.

Quality and performance improvements

This update includes a number of quality and performance improvements, including the following

Mobile app becomes unresponsive after clicking notification email link

When an Expense report is submitted for approval, the Zetadocs Expenses system sends notification emails to the approver and finance processor.  These emails include buttons which open the approval task or task list in the mobile app.

Previously if you clicked these email links on a mobile device, the mobile app could become unresponsive on some devices.  This has now been corrected.

Reimbursable amount displayed incorrectly in reports

Previously when you displayed an Expense Report or Vehicle Report containing mileage expenses, in some cases the value of the reimbursable amount was displayed incorrectly. 

The issue only affected the value which was displayed in the client app, and the correct amount was exported to the ERP system.  The issue has now been corrected.

Additional upgrade steps

Extension for Business Central

The Extension for Business Central has not been updated in this release.

This release is compatible with all previous versions of the Extension for Business Central.  However if you are using a previous version we recommend that you upgrade to the latest version to benefit from stability and performance improvements.

NAV Server Components

The NAV Server Components have not been updated in this release.

This release is compatible with previous versions of the NAV Server Components (versions 3.3.18178 and later).

The Zetadocs Expenses Connector Windows service is installed on your NAV Server computer, and manages communication between the Zetadocs server and the Zetadocs NAV Server Components.  If the Zetadocs Expenses Connector Windows service on your system is version 3.4.24080 or older then we recommend you upgrade it to version 3.4.24081 (or later) to benefit from reliability and performance improvements when exporting reports.

The Zetadocs Expenses Connector Windows service can be updated simply without affecting your NAV system.  Please contact Equisys for more information.

Reporting Template

The PowerBI Reporting Template has not been updated in this release.

Mobile apps

Installed mobile apps will be updated automatically on mobile devices where this is enabled.
