Controlling security

If you want to control the security of the system and the privacy of faxes between users, you can restrict the access rights that users have for the Zetafax directories. The best way to achieve this is to use the Zetafax Configuration program to enable Enhanced Security:

 

1.Click Start and select Programs>Zetafax>Zetafax Configuration to launch Zetafax Configuration.

2.In the right pane, double-click Server settings.

3.Select Enhanced security from the list of options.

4.On the Enhanced security dialog, click Enable.

 

Enhanced Security controls access to Zetafax directories as shown in the table below. Once it is enabled, Zetafax Configuration will automatically manage all further access to directories.

 

You can also secure the Zetafax system manually by setting individual users' file access rights for the Zetafax directories on the server. To keep each user's fax area private, only give Full Control permissions to the user's private area within the Zetafax directory structure to the user and the Zetafax service account. For example, for a Zetafax user called JOHN give Full Control to C:\PROGRAM FILES\ZETAFAX SERVER\USERS\JOHN.

 

The files used by Zetafax are split between five areas. These areas are listed in the table below, together with the type of access required by the clients and the Zetafax service account to all files and subdirectories in that area.

In each case, the default directory uses C:\PROGRAM FILES\ZETAFAX SERVER as the example Zetafax home directory.
