Least Cost Routing - Troubleshooting

 


 

Symptom: Can't click the Links... button from the LCR page of Server settings to configure a link

 

Solution:

 

Make sure that the General settings have been configured first.

 

Symptom: When configuring a link, the wrong ID was typed and now it can't be changed

 

Solution:

 

Select the link from the list in the Links dialog. Choose Copy to create a new link, with all the settings from the old one. Correct the ID and save the link, then delete the original link.

 

Symptom: When trying to configure a WAN or Email link, the chosen link type is not available

 

Solution:

 

Check that WAN and Email links have been enabled in LCR - General settings.

 

Symptom: When clicking the Test button for a Lotus Notes Email link, an error 'Unable to locate Nnotes.dll' appears

 

Solution:

 

Check that the path of the main Lotus Notes folder has been included in your Windows environment settings.

 

Symptom: Link doesn't start up properly - WAN link

 

Solution:

 

Check that both servers are running. Check the WAN Inbox settings in LCR General settings at both ends. Check that both servers have the necessary access privileges for the folders (use the Test function in the Edit link dialog to test the link).

 

Symptom: Link doesn't start up properly - Email link

 

Solution:

 

Check that both servers are running. Check that the email account details for both servers in LCR General settings . Use the Test function in the Link Edit dialog to send a test message.

 

Symptom: Server program ROUTER reports that it received message files that failed a security check

 

Solution:

 

Check that the link password has been correctly entered at both ends of the link.

 

Symptom: Server program ROUTER reports it received messages from (or for) unrecognized servers.

 

Solution:

 

Check that the server ID 's have been entered correctly at both ends of the link.

 

Symptom: Server program QUEUEMAN times out messages sent to remote servers, or link status is regularly 'Watchdog failed link'

 

Solution:

 

Increase the Link delay setting.

 

Symptom: Email link regularly goes to 'Watchdog failed link' at certain times (e.g. overnight)

 

Solution:

 

Check that the server's email connection is not turned off for parts of the day - some companies may set their email system to dial up the Internet at intervals during the day and not at all at night.

 

Symptom: No traffic over the link:

 

Solution:

 

Check that the link is 'Online' by looking at the Zetafax Server window. Check that both sending and receiving is allowed on the link, using the General tab of the Edit link dialog. Check that some routing rules have been configured, and use the Rule filter to test the rules.

 

Symptom: Rules don't behave as expected:

 

Solution:

 

Use the Rule filter to test the rules.
