Zetafax - basic concepts
Zetafax allows any users on a network to send and receive faxes via a central Zetafax Server.
Faxes are sent and received using fax modems, or intelligent fax boards attached to the network through the Zetafax Server. Faxes can be printed to any network printers. Paper documents can be scanned in and faxed using a scanner connected to any machine running the fax client or a scanning device attached to the network.
As with any other device on the network used for shared storage or communications, a networked fax modem, or intelligent fax board requires a server. We refer to this, naturally enough, as the Zetafax server. If your installation has a file server or workstation running Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP Professional, Windows Server 2012, 2008 or 2003 the Zetafax Server can usually be run on the same computer.
Alternatively, if you have a single fax line for up to around 25 users (send only) the Zetafax Server software can run as a Windows application in the background of a Pentium workstation. With more than one fax line, or more than 25 users, we recommend that the Zetafax Server is run on a separate machine under Windows Server 2012, 2008 or 2003.
The Zetafax files themselves can be stored on any file server on the network that can be accessed by both the Zetafax Server and clients. Thus, the Zetafax Server, Zetafax client, and file storage can all be on different computers.
The supported fax modems and intelligent fax boards on the network are connected to the Zetafax Server computer. The following diagram shows this set up on part of a network.
