Step 6: Test the Zetafax Online configuration

Once you have completed the steps to connect to Zetafax Online, you should test that the system has been configured correctly before making this available to users.

This section describes how to test the most common case, where Zetafax is configured to use a single Zetafax Online account without any local fax device.  Other scenarios will require additional testing.

To test the system, perform the following steps:

Start the Zetafax Server.  Check that the Zetafax Monitor program displays a link to Zetafax Online, and that the link is displayed as Online. Check the messages which are logged to ensure that there are no errors reported.

oIf the link is not displayed, check that you have followed the instructions to enable the LCR feature and create a link, then try restarting the Zetafax Server using the Restart menu option in the Zetafax Server monitor program.

oIf the link is displayed as Offline, display the Link Status dialog (using Options menu, Links), then set the link online.

oIf the link is displayed with an error status, run the Zetafax Configuration program, display the Least Cost Routing server settings pane, then display the settings dialog for the link.  Validate the account details and other settings using the Test button.  If this works correctly, try stopping the Zetafax Server then running again as an application (rather than as a Windows service).

Using the Zetafax Client, send a single page fax to valid test number.  Watch the Zetafax Server monitor screen, and check that the fax is submitted to the Zetafax Online service, shown in the message count for the server (number of messages queued remotely) and for the link.  Once the fax is sent, check that the server reports the completion, and check the message status in the client is updated to show the fax has been sent.

oIf the message fails immediately, with a message “No suitable devices” displayed in the Zetafax Server monitor, check that the LCR rule has been configured correctly.

oIf the message fails after submission to the Zetafax Online service, with a general error such as “insufficient funds available” displayed in the Zetafax Server monitor, please contact Equisys to check the status of the Zetafax Online account being used.

For systems configured for receiving faxes:

Send a fax to the fax number associated with the Zetafax Online account.  We recommend sending the fax from a separate fax device if available, rather than from the Zetafax system being tested.  Check the Zetafax Server monitor program – the received fax should be retrieved within 1 minute (depending on the settings configured for the link).  Ensure the fax is forwarded to the Zetafax user account specified in the link settings (or other user if the system has inward routing rules configured).

oIf the fax is not detected by Zetafax, check the link settings to ensure that inbound fax receipt is enabled, and that the fax was sent to the correct fax number.

oFor systems with inward routing rules configured, if the routing rules do not trigger as expected then check the routing information received by Zetafax matches the specified rule, by checking the messages logged in the Zetafax Server monitor screen.  Note that the format of routing information may change when moving from a local fax device to Zetafax Online – e.g. passing a different number of digits for the dialed number – so the inward routing rules may require adjustment to reflect this.
