This Zetafax technical note applies to:

  • Zetafax 2006

Summary

This document details issues in previous versions of Zetafax that have been addressed in this release of Zetafax.  It also details the new features added in this release.

Issues fixed in this release

Zetafax Server

  1. When using the Zetafax Server Monitor 'Fax Report.' menu option in Zetafax 9.1, some users experienced an application crash.  If the Zetafax 2006 server CD install fails to rectify this issue on your system, Equisys recommends that you download the additional patch from the Update Service which resolves further known issues on selected operating systems.
  2. An upgrade installation of the Zetafax Server failed to copy over new Zetafax Client .CAB files.
  3. Faxes sent through E-Mail Gateway have '???' in the subject line.
  4. Zetafax API sample code was out of date.

Zetafax Client

  1. Zetafax Client addressing dialog fails to appear when printing to the Zetafax Printer.
  2. When printing to the Zetafax Printer users receive a message saying "" You must run the zetafax client program (ZETAFAX.EXE) to address the fax" , even though the Zetafax Client starts automatically in the background.
  3. When searching the Zetafax address book, through the Zetafax Client, the search yields missing, corrupt or unreadable entries.
  4. Faxes forwarded to a Zetafax user are automatically printed.
  5. The Zetafax Client takes a long time to start up if there are large numbers of faxes in the Inbox or Outbox.
  6. GoldMine logon dialog does not display 'remembered' details.

Features included in this release

This update introduces the following new features: -

  1. Improved fax addressing process, including a What You See Is What You Fax (WYSIWYF) addressing wizard.  This allows users to create RTF Covernote text and to rapidly preview their fax before sending it.
  2. Junk Message Filter.  Allows both users and administrators to mark specific fax senders as junk, and to create appropriate rules for junk messages.
  3. Inbox Rules.  Allows users to create forwarding rules for received fax messages.
  4. Server Queue Management.  Provides Administrators with the ability to centrally manage the Zetafax message queue.
  5. Do-not-dial control.  Allows Administrators to prohibit the dialling of specified numbers, either individually or as a range.
  6. Fax annotation.  Provides both Zetafax Client and Outlook Forms users with the ability to annotate their fax messages without the need for 3rd party applications.
  7. Zetafax Client update process.  Zetafax Client users can now directly check for updated application components that have been downloaded to their Zetafax Server by the Administrator.
  8. The following features, available only to Software Assurance customers in Zetafax 9.1, are now made available to everyone:
    1. Ability to attach documents directly to a fax using the Zetafax Client.
    2. Coversheet continuation.
    3. Number in-use protection.  To prevent dialling to numbers known to be in-use.
