HOWTO: Upgrade the Zetafax Server Evaluation system to a full version Print ZTN1680 ID: ZTN1680 This Zetafax technical note applies to: Zetafax 2007 Summary The Zetafax Server Evaluation is designed to give customers the opportunity to evaluate the main components of Zetafax with their own equipment. Once satisfied that it meets your requirements and you purchase Zetafax, you will need to upgrade to the full version of the software. This document details the steps involved to upgrade the evaluation system to a fully working copy of Zetafax to be used in a production environment. More information On purchase, you will receive a Zetafax starter system licence key and a full copy of the software. Follow the instructions below to upgrade to the full version of Zetafax. NOTE: If you have created additional users and you wish them to keep the faxes they sent and received during the evaluation period make a copy of the following file: C:\Program Files\Zetafax Server\System\Z-DB\USERLIST.INI before upgrading. Log on to the server where the Zetafax Server Evaluation is installed. Insert the Full version CD-ROM and follow the on-screen prompts to install the Zetafax server. When prompted to upgrade click Yes. The server install will now continue and warn you that you will need to enter your purchased starter licence. After you click OK you’ll be prompted to enter it. The install will now continue to update the server. Once complete you will need to enter your company details and register the system as you were not prompted for these with the evaluation. Rename the following file: C:\Program Files\Zetafax Server\System\Z-DB\LICENCE.DAT to LICENCE.OLD. Now start the Zetafax Configuration Program and click OK to the Zetafax Setup Error. You’ll be prompted to enter your starter licence and company details, do so following the on-screen prompts. Once complete, close the configuration program. If you made a copy USERLIST.INI you can now copy that to: C:\Program Files\Zetafax Server\System\Z-DB\ overwriting the new file. Now start the Zetafax server. Log on to any Zetafax Client and send a fax. You will now be prompted to register the system. Once the registration fax has been successfully sent you have completed the upgrade procedure. Faxes archived on the evaluation system will still be accessible from the Zetafax Client in the Folder List.
