Summary
The Zetafax Client needs to point to a Zetafax server in order to view faxes in the Inbox or Outbox. This information is stored in a configuration file on the client machine. Sometimes the information in this file can be incorrect or permissions to the folders are not set correctly, and you cannot connect to the Zetafax Server.
More information
For version 9 and later, there is a zfclient.ini configuration file (Zetafax.ini in previous versions) stored in
\Program Files\Zetafax\zfclient.ini, and the user’s temp directory e.g.
C:\Documents and Settings\< username> \Application Data\Equisys\Zetafax Client\zfclient.ini
If you open the file with Notepad, you will see this information under [Workstation]:
UserArea: \\servername\ZFAX\USERS\%NAME%
SystemArea: \\servername\ZFAX\SYSTEM
RequestArea: \\servername\ZFAX\REQUEST
This servername needs to be the correct one. If you move the Zetafax server, it may still be pointing to the old server.
- To change it you can manually modify the file to specify the correct servername.
- Or log onto the Zetafax client, then click on the browse button (with 3 dots) next to the servername.
- Untick “Use Separate folders”.
- Click the browse button.
- Manually browse the network to locate the server and the ZFAX folder – select this and click ok to all the options presented.
Alternatively you can rename the zfclient.ini files to zfclient.old. You will be asked to point to the Zetafax server manually, which will regenerate the file.
If you still cannot connect to the Zetafax server after correcting this, ensure that Everyone has Full control to the \\servername\zfax shared folder and NTFS (Security) permissions, on the folder, subfolders and files. This should be the case, but check that the settings have not changed.
