This Zetafax technical note applies to:
Symptom
When a Zetafax server 7.5 system with Brooktrout PRI fax devices is receiving inbound calls, some calls are rejected on the basis that they are generated from an analogue line.
Cause
The above symptom is known to occur on Zetafax 7.0.65 systems if Brooktrout Enhanced Call Control (ECC) version 1.75 (Build 3-C) has been used to configure the Netaccess network interface card.
Zetafax version 7.5.0.65 CD-ROM shipped with this version of the ECC, but Brooktrout has since updated the Brooktrout ECC API which resolves the symptom as described above.
Resolution
Equisys recommend that you verify the version of the ECC installed before proceeding. This can be done by using a command prompt to change directory to bfax\server, (where 'bfax' is the name of the directory where the Brooktrout ECC files are installed.) and typing:
btnasrv -v
The program will respond with its version, date and build number. Use the table below to ensure you have the correct version of the ECC for the version of Zetafax.
Zetafax version |
Required Brooktrout ECC version |
5.50 |
Not supported |
6.00 |
Version 1.5 build 1.55 |
6.01 |
Version 1.61 build 1.69 |
7.5.0.65 |
Version 1.7.5 build 4-C |
If you are running Zetafax 7.5.0.65 with ECC 1.7.5 build C-3 you will need to update to ECC 1.7.5 build C-4 which is available on the Equisys FTP site or from your web browser. Go to http://www.equisys.com/, choose 'Browse FTP site', then download /pub/update/ecc175c4.exe. Once downloaded follow the instructions for configuring the PRI solution as in the Zetafax user manual.
Status
This has been identified by Equisys as a problem with the software versions given above.
