PRB: Some faxes are received as .G3F file type after specifying another file type using MailSendFormat. Print ZTN1218 ID: ZTN1218 This Zetafax technical note applies to: Zetafax Server version 7.5.1.91 upgraded from 7.5.0.65 Queue Manager program update 7.5.0.71 Symptom When users receive faxes via the email gateway (e.g. in Microsoft Outlook) the extension of the received file is normally .TIF or .G3F (Not a mixture of both). In some instances users may receive some faxes as .TIF and others as .G3F. Cause This behaviour is due to an update that was previously applied to the Zetafax server system. This update converts 'Normal' (G3N) faxes to 'Fine' (G3F) resolution before forwarding to the email gateway. This update is overriding the MailSendFormat setting, but only for Normal (G3N) resolution faxes. Resolution To configure the e-mail gateway to forward all received faxes with the same extension, perform the steps described below: On the Zetafax Server machine, open the file zfax\SYSTEM\Z-DB\SETUP.INI, where 'zfax' is the name of the directory where Zetafax is installed. In the [OPTIONS] section, remove the following line: ConvertG3N: YES Save SETUP.INI and then restart the Zetafax Server. Status This has been identified by Equisys as a problem with the software versions given above. Last updated: 23 August 2002 (SV/GC)
