FIX: Printing to Zetafax Printer does not produce print output to Zetafax Client for low rights users on a client OS

Symptom

When printing to the Zetafax Printer using a low rights user, or user who was not the user that installed Zetafax Client, the print output is not generated on the Zetafax Client and no faxes can be sent.

In the printer properties of the Zetafax Printer, the Device Settings tab shows a print output path of the temp path for the installing user account.

This issue occurs only in client versions of Windows (Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8).

Cause

The Zetafax Client installer did not set the printer output path to %temp% on these OS versions, instead, picking up the full temp path for the installing user. If a low rights user logs into the machine and attempts to print to the Zetafax Printer, the output path is not accessible to the printer due to folder restrictions for that user, and so Zetafax Client is unable to pick up any print output.

Resolution

This fault was corrected in a hotfix, which is available by contacting Equisys Technical Support and quoting the technote number ZTN2070. This adjusts the Zetafax Client installer to set the output path of the printer to %temp%.

Status

This behaviour was corrected in the hotfix detailed above.
