HOWTO: Update the Zetafax Printer Manually Print ZTN1447 ID: ZTN1447 This Zetafax technical note applies to: Zetafax 9.1 and later Summary This technote details the steps that need to be taken to manually update the Zetafax printer. More information By updating the Zetafax printer many issues such as the client addressing dialog box not appearing are fixed. If a user is experiencing any problems printing using the Zetafax printer, the first step should be to update the printer. To update the printer please carry out the following steps: Search your Windows directory for files named imgf*.* A variety of DLL's will appear. If they start with imgfx you are using the normal driver. If they begin with imgfb you are using the faxbatch driver. Create a folder on your PC somewhere such as c:\program files\zetafax\imgfaxdir. Then navigate to PrintdriverV3 Install files and extract the contents of Printdriver V3 zip to the imgfaxdir directory you created. Then download the appropriate driver files for your Operating System and current drivers. i.e. if you are a Windows XP Professional user with a faxbatch driver (as described in step 2) you should download the Windows XP FaxBatch file. There are also drivers for Win 2000 and 2003. You will find them here PrintDriverV3 Driver files Extract the contents of the chosen zip to the imgfaxdir directory as above. In the imgfaxdir directory you will find a file called SAMPLE.BAT - Right click SAMPLE.BAT and select edit. SAMPLE.BAT assumes Windows is installed in C:\WINDOWS. If this isn't the case replace C:\Windows with the location of your windows directory. There are four places this needs to be done in the file, you will need to change them all. Save and close SAMPLE.BAT Go to Start | Run and type cmd into the edit box and press Enter to open a command prompt. Navigate to the SAMPLE.BAT file in the imgfaxdir you created earlier using the CD command. Run SAMPLE.BAT from here. After SAMPLE.BAT has finished reboot the machine. Run up another command prompt. Type SET and press enter. Make a note of local temp area i.e. TEMP= Navigate to the Printer and Faxes folder, right click the Zetafax printer, select Properties and go to Device Settings. Under the Output File section set the 'Path for output files' to the temp area as in step 12. Also set the Prefix for output files is to ZFAX. Apply your changes.
