PRB: Brooktrout devices fail on server startup

This Zetafax technical note applies to:
- Zetafax 2006 and later
- Brooktrout TRxStream boards (TR1034 and Trufax BRI)
Symptom
After a server reboot faxes are no longer received. When viewing the Zetafax server monitor, all devices are in error and the log messages report:
SYSMAN - (W) - Program BTBINIT not initialised correctly
Restarting the Zetafax server does not resolve the issue.
Cause
On server startup, the Zetafax service waits for the Brooktrout board configuration tool (CONFIGTOOL.EXE) to exit. As it does not do so in a timely fashion, Zetafax is unable to initialise the board.
Resolution
Use an updated version of BTBINIT.EXE to resolve the issue which is available for download from the following location:
btbinitv10.0.427.zip
The update is specific to the type of board you have installed. If in doubt use the btbinit_pstn.exe version. If you receive an error on server restart that relates to the FOIP (Fax over IP) driver then use the btbinit_foip.exe version.
Follow the READ ME.TXT file instructions included in the package to apply the update.
Status
This has been identified by Equisys as a problem with the software versions given above.
