A world of change
Zetadocs for NAV version 10: the changes and updates you need to know
Another year, another new NAV release and another new version of Zetadocs. Today, we announced that Zetadocs for NAV version 10 is available now; another major milestone of which we are very proud.
A world of change
In fact, in 2017 we released Zetadocs for NAV 9.0 and 9.1 and no less than 11 updates to the latest member of the Zetadocs for NAV family, Zetadocs Expenses. You can find details of all of these releases here. Since Microsoft switched to an annual cadence for NAV, it has asked difficult questions of customers, partners and ISVs alike. What’s more, with NAV 2018 having become available on 1st December 2017, NAV 2018 R2 due in early 2018 and Dynamics 365 “Tenerife” coming shortly after, the pace of change appears to be quickening. Even then, once Dynamics 365 “Tenerife” becomes established and customers choose the cloud as their platform of choice for their ERP software, we’re expecting the pace of change to be faster still, with no signs of it relenting.
The ISV challenge
As an ISV, we offer value added functionality on top of what is available in NAV itself and our add ons have proven to be popular with an install base of over 5,000 sites uses. The 8 editions of Zetadocs in the family supports almost 50 different platforms including all 4 versions of the NAV client, 8 versions of NAV from version 5, 7 windows operating systems, 12 different document archive options, and 14 NAV databases. You can imagine some of the challenges this brings for our development, QA and support processes! We’re not complaining – after all as an ISV that has been established for over 30 years, this is our bread and butter.
Given this level of R&D investment required to keep pace and provide a quality product for all customers, we have decided to make some changes to the way we support Zetadocs Express to bring them in line with how we support all Zetadocs for NAV customers. You can read about these changes here.
