New Zetafax device choices continued... Gareth Williams / Friday, January 9, 2015 Support for Dialogic Media Gateway devices Media gateway devices are used when your Zetafax Server is running on a virtual server such as VMware. The media gateway is connected to the company network (LAN), and the phone lines are then connected to it. The Zetafax Server communicates with the media gateway over the LAN, using a Fax over IP (FoIP) Connector to make and receive fax calls via the media gateway unit. We have recently added support for the Dialogic Media Gateway (DMG) range of media gateway devices with Zetafax 2014. This adds to our existing support for similar units from AudioCodes and Quintum, giving another choice to Zetafax customers and channel partners. The performance of the DMG units has been impressive, particularly when sending to non-standard fax devices or using poor quality phone lines. DMG devices are also an attractive choice for customers using the Zetafax FoIP Connector (SR140 Edition). It means both ends of the FoIP communication are supplied by the same manufacturer (Dialogic), thushelping with both interoperability and support. For systems using the Standard Edition of the Zetafax FoIP Connector a software update is available containing new template configuration files for these devices. This adds DMG to the list of available devices when configuring the FoIP Connector. For the Zetafax FoIP Connector (SR140 Edition) no software update is required, although we would recommend installing the latest Brooktrout driver update. Read this technote for more information on how to configure DMG devices with Zetafax. Previous Article New Zetafax device choices Next Article Using Zetafax with Diva fax boards
