Changes in this update
Feature enhancements
Updated list of currencies
We have updated the list of currencies, including standardizing currency names to match the ISO standard and adding a few new currencies which appeared since the the last update.
We have also updated the exchange rates against US Dollar (USD), Pounds Sterling (GBP) and Euro (EUR) for new accounts, and set exchange rates for any currency where no rate has been set for existing accounts configured with USD, GBP or EUR home currency.
Preview features
The following enhancements are enabled on selected accounts only. This allows channel partners and other users to understand the feature and to give feedback on its implementation before general release. Please contact Equisys if you wish to use any of these preview features.
Reporting data feed
We have added a data feed to retrieve details of approved expenses. This can be used with Microsoft PowerBI and Microsoft Excel to analyse expenditure, complementing the reporting available in Dynamics NAV and Business Central.
The data feed uses the OData standard, and is secured using the Zetadocs user account credentials (username and password). If the specified user has been configured with the Zetadocs Expenses analyst role the feed will return approved expenses for all users in the account; otherwise the user will only see their own expenses.
We will be previewing a PowerBI template later this quarter which uses this data feed to display a set of standard dashboards and reports. Companies will be able to customize the template using the PowerBI desktop app, then publish it for wider use within the business.
Quality and performance improvements
This update includes general quality and performance improvements, including the following:
Forced client restart with Internet Explorer
We have improved memory usage in the Zetadocs Expenses client. This will improve performance of the client with all browsers, and particularly with Internet Explorer. It also corrects an issue affecting a small number of Internet Explorer users, causing the client periodically to restart and require the user to reenter their password.
Prevent mileage expense vehicle type mismatch
Previously if a mileage expense was attached to a vehicle report you could still edit the vehicle type for the expense. This is now prevented, ensuring that all expenses on a vehicle report are for the same vehicle as the report.
This change is included for desktop and Android app users only in this update, and will be released for Apple (iOS) users in the next update.
Allow special characters in email address
The email address for a user can now include permitted punctuation characters. Previously some valid characters were not accepted, blocking use by users with unusual email addresses.
Additional upgrade steps
Zetadocs Expenses Connector for NAV
All sites which export expense data to Microsoft Dynamics NAV must upgrade to the July 2018 release of the connector (version 3.3.18178) or a later version by February 4, 2019. See this article for further details.
The upgrade process is quick and easy, and is described in this technote. Please contact Equisys for further assistance if required.
Mobile apps
Installed mobile apps will be updated automatically on mobile devices where this is enabled.
