Print
ZTN2128
This Zetafax technical note applies to:
- Zetafax (all versions)
- All 64-bit versions of Windows Server Operating system running a 64-bit version of Outlook
Symptom
When attempting to forward a fax via email from the Zetafax client on a 64-bit server operating system the option is greyed out:
Cause
The 32-bit MAPI implementation in the Zetafax client is not compatible with 64-bit Outlook when installed on a server OS
Resolution
To resolve the issue on the Server OS you need to follow one of the two available options-
Option 1
Make change to ZFCLIENT.INI file -
a. Navigate to your Zetafax client installation folder e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\Zetafax and open ZFCLIENT.INI file
b. Add the section [SERVER] in the file and add the following line:
Mail: MAPI (note this will need to be done for all machines with the problem)
c. Repeat the above step for the ZFCLIENT.INI file located in System folder on Zetafax share to allow any new installing users or user logins to get the setting straight away.
d. Repeat the same step for the ZFCLIENT.INI file located in user’s roaming profile folder (user logged in on the server) – C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Equisys\Zetafax Client
Option 2
Edit the registry on the server:
WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Equisys cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved.
For information about how to edit the registry, view the " Changing Keys and Values" Help topic in Registry Editor (REGEDIT.EXE) or the " Add and Delete Information in the Registry" and " Edit Registry Data" Help topics in REGEDT32.EXE. Note that you should back up the registry before you edit it. If you are running Windows NT or Windows 2000, you should also update your Emergency Repair Disk (ERD).
a. Open the registry editor and go to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows Messaging Subsystem
b. Add a String Value 'MAPI' with value 1
Status
This has been identified by Equisys as a problem with the software versions given above
