This Zetafax technical note applies to:

  • Zetafax version 17.5
  • Zetafax Exchange Online Modern Authentication Update

Summary

This technical note describes the new features in the Zetafax Exchange Online Modern Authentication Update.

More information

This update adds support for Modern Authentication in the email gateway Exchange Online connector, replacing the previous use of Basic Authentication (username/password).

The update is required for use with new Exchange Online systems which do not support basic authentication, or for Exchange Online systems where basic authentication is disabled.  It is recommended for all systems which use the email gateway with Exchange Online systems to avoid disruption when Microsoft disable use of basic authentication in the future.

The change of authentication method is invisible to users, and there is no need to train users or change user documentation after installing the update.  It can be used to migrate an existing system which are using basic authentication, or to update a new system before configuring the connection to Exchange Online.

This update is available free of charge to customers with a Software Assurance contract which is current at the date of release (1st April 2022).

The update is recommended for all Zetafax version 17.5 systems which use the Zetafax Email Gateway with Exchange Online.
