PRB: ‘Failed to authenticate’ error when using the Zetadocs Documents Factbox or Search SDK Print ZTN4444 ID: ZTN4444 This Zetadocs technical note applies to: Zetadocs NAV v7.1 or later SharePoint Server (on premise) Symptom When attempting to open a page with the Zetadocs Document Web Client Factbox and accessing an on premise SharePoint Server archive, a dialog appears with the following message; Failed to authenticate. Unable to login. Please check your username and password. When clicking OK on this dialog, an authentication prompt appears, and on inputting the correct credentials for a user account, the Factbox is empty. This also occurs when using the Zetadocs Search SDK functionality to retrieve and attach related documents to a report. The following lines appear in the Zetadocs-NAV.log file: ERROR-C9041220.SearchAddinDotNet() Search function returned, error code: 114074 DEBUG-C9041215.DisplayError(): There was an error. Creating error message. DEBUG-C9041215.DisplayError(): Error Message: Failed to authenticate. Unable to login. Please check your username and password. Cause This issue occurs because the SharePoint search and archiving functionality is performed on the NAV Server and so is dependent on the permissions of the user account running the NAV Server service. The default NAV Server service account is Network Service, which allows the client user’s credentials to be passed through to SharePoint when performing archive actions. However, if the user account running the NAV Server service is a domain user, and that domain user is not a valid SharePoint user, then the authentication into SharePoint will fail and no archiving or archive search can happen. Resolution Either of the following 2 actions can be performed to resolve this error: Run the NAV Server service as Network Service account. Add the user account running the NAV Server service as a SharePoint user. Status Equisys is aware of this issue and will update this technical note when a solution has been found.
