Changes in this update

Feature enhancements

Rollback incomplete records on export failure with Business Central Extension

If an export operation fails, the BC Extension will now delete any incomplete purchase invoice or journal entries which have been created during the process.  This removes the need for the finance processor to tidy up the unposted items manually, and matches the behavior of the NAV Connector codeunits.

This change affects systems using the Extension for Business Central, and requires the extension to be upgraded to the version in this update or a later version.

Set job fields in standard order with Business Central extension

Previously the Business Central extension set all custom properties in the order they were listed in Zetadocs Expenses.  We have now changed the order so that the system sets job fields in the order Job, Job Task then Job Line Type before setting dimension fields.

This helps prevent issues if the custom properties are configured in a non-standard order – eg if the Job Task property appears before the Job property.  It also means that the extension and connector codeunits behave in the same way which simplifies upgrading from NAV to Business Central.

This change affects systems using the Extension for Business Central, and requires the extension to be upgraded to the version in this update or a later version.

Quality and performance improvements

This update includes a number of quality and performance improvements, including the following:

Improve reliability of export process

Previously there was an intermittent issue where the export process failed to start, requiring the finance processor to retry the export operation manually.  In some cases, the report was left in a processing state and had to be reset by Equisys before the operation could be retried.  These issues have now been corrected.

Canadian sales tax allocation with NAV connector

On Canadian systems with sales tax reclaim enabled, the previous release of the NAV connector did not correctly split the GST and PST portions of the sales tax for some Canadian provinces, and report export would fail if the system was configured to export to journals.  This has now been corrected and the behavior now matches the BC extension.

This change affects systems using the Connector for NAV, and requires the connector and codeunits to be upgraded to the version in this update or a later version.

Additional upgrade steps

Extension for Business Central

Customers using the extension with a Business Central public cloud system can update this from Microsoft AppSource.  Updates are typically available on AppSource within seven working days of release, and you can check whether it is available for your territory by comparing the AppSource version number with the version number listed above.

Customers using the extension with a Business Central on-premises system can download the extension from the Equisys software updates page.

To upgrade from an older version of the extension please contact your Business Central reseller, or contact Equisys for further assistance if required.

This release is compatible with previous versions of the Extension for Business Central.

Connector for NAV

Customers using the Connector for NAV with a Business Central or NAV on-premises system can download the connector from the Equisys software updates page.

To upgrade from an older version of the connector, follow the instructions in this technote.  Please contact Equisys for further assistance if required.

This release is compatible with previous versions of the connector (versions 3.3.18178 and later).

Reporting Template

There is no update to the PowerBI reporting template with this release.

Mobile apps

Installed mobile apps will be updated automatically on mobile devices where this is enabled.

Known issues with released features

Status screen

On larger systems the status screen can take a long time to display, and at busy times the request may timeout and fail.  The display time depends on the number of reports and expenses in the system, so the screen will typically take longer to display on larger systems.

The display time can be reduced by displaying the Settings page in the Zetadocs Expenses client app, then reducing the Status Screen Report Viewing Window setting to 30 days.
