Feature enhancements
Canadian sales tax reclaim
We have added support for reclaiming sales tax on Canadian systems, with similar behavior to reclaiming VAT for UK customers. To use this feature you enable the Reclaim Sales Tax option in the system settings configuration screen, then configure sales tax rates for each province to match your Business Central system configuration.
When a submitter creates an expense, they specify the sales tax rate and amount, and whether the tax can be reclaimed by the company. When the expense is exported to Business Central, Zetadocs Expenses sets the Tax Area Code and Tax Group Code values in the purchase invoice line. Business Central then posts the sales tax to the correct GL account, matching the standard behavior for purchase invoices which are created manually.
This feature requires the Extension for Business Central or the Connector for NAV to be upgraded to this release.
Preview features
The following enhancements are enabled on selected accounts only. This allows channel partners and other users to understand the feature and to give feedback on its implementation before general release. Please contact Equisys if you wish to use any of these preview features.
Reduce startup time for desktop app
We are continuing our testing of the changes to improve startup time for the desktop client, and expect to release these changes for all accounts in the next update.
Quality and performance improvements
This update includes a number of quality and performance improvements, including the following:
Apple iOS app startup and offline use
We have corrected a fault in the Apple (iOS) mobile app November release which affected the startup behavior for users with large numbers of expenses. This increased the time taken by the app to start, and also affected use of the app while offline.
Changes not saved to server if app initialization fails
We have corrected an issue on mobile devices where the app would not save new expenses or other changes in some circumstances. On affected systems, after making a change or choosing the refresh option, the client app displayed an error and the count of unsaved changes remained on the top line of the display indicating that the changes had not been saved to the server.
Additional upgrade steps
Extension for Business Central
Customers using the extension with a Business Central public cloud system can update this from Microsoft AppSource. Updates are typically available on AppSource within seven working days of release, and you can check whether it is available for your system by comparing the AppSource version number with the version number listed above.
Customers using the extension with a Business Central on-premises system can download the extension from the Equisys software updates page.
To upgrade from an older version of the extension please contact your Business Central reseller, or contact Equisys for further assistance if required.
This release is compatible with previous versions of the Extension for Business Central.
Connector for NAV
Customers using the Connector for NAV with a Business Central or NAV on-premises system can download the connector from the Equisys software updates page.
To upgrade from an older version of the connector, follow the instructions in this technote. Please contact Equisys for further assistance if required.
This release is compatible with previous versions of the connector (versions 3.3.18178 and later).
Versions of the connector before the June 2019 release (versions before 3.3.19148) are not compatible with Business Central on-premises systems using the April 2019 release of Business Central (BC14), or with older Business Central systems with cumulative update 4 (BC13 CU4).
Reporting Template
There is no update to the PowerBI reporting template with this release.
Mobile apps
Installed mobile apps will be updated automatically on mobile devices where this is enabled.
Known issues with released features
Unable to use vehicle type after settings are changed
After editing a vehicle type which is restricted to specified users or user groups, on some systems the vehicle type may no longer be visible to some of the permitted users. This prevents affected users from creating mileage records for that vehicle type.
The issue does not affect vehicle types which are available for all users.
Unable to attach expense to report
There is an infrequent issue where a draft expense which has been removed from a report may be left with a status of Submitted rather than Draft. This can occur if an error occurs when submitting a report for approval, and prevents the expense from being attached to a new report.
Please contact the Equisys support team if you have an expense which is affected by this issue, and they will reset the status so that it can be submitted for approval.
Map does not display correctly on Apple iOS devices
There is an issue with displaying maps when using the Zetadocs Expenses mobile app on some Apple iOS devices. This affects how the route is displayed in the mileage expense view and edit screens, causing it to be displayed on a solid grey background instead of overlaying it onto a map.
Moving or resizing the map corrects the issue, and the map will then be displayed correctly. The issue does not occur when using the mobile app on Android devices or in the desktop browser app.
