Zetadocs Expenses Connector upgrade

Action needed to avoid service interruption

Gareth Williams

Versions of the Zetadocs Expenses NAV Connector which were released before July 2018 will stop working soon.  This article describes how to check whether you are using one of these older versions, and the steps you need to take if so to prevent any interruption in your use of Zetadocs Expenses.

Why are we making this change?

Older versions of the Zetadocs Expenses Connector for NAV use the Microsoft Azure Access Control Service (ACS) to control access to Zetadocs Expenses. Microsoft are retiring this service on November 7, 2018.

These older versions will continue to work until February 4, 2019.  However there may be some restrictions on performance or availability during this extension period.  After that date ACS will be shut down, causing all export requests to old versions of the connector to fail.

How does this change affect my Zetadocs Expenses system?

The July 2018 update for Zetadocs Expenses included a new version of the connector, which uses the latest Microsoft Azure authentication service.  If you are using Zetadocs Expenses with a Microsoft Dynamics NAV system then you must ensure that you have upgraded your connector to that version (or later).

How does this change affect Zetadocs Expenses users?

Provided you upgrade the connector before February 4, 2019, users will be unaffected by the change.

If your system is still using an older version of the connector after Microsoft shuts down its ACS service, it will not be possible to export expenses to NAV until you upgrade the connector.  Users will still be able to create and approve expenses, and no data will be lost, but any approved expense reports will remain in the Awaiting Export list and will need to be exported manually after you have upgraded.

What should I do now?

Take the steps as soon as possible to avoid any disruption to your expense export process.

  • On your NAV server, check the version number of the Zetadocs Expenses Connector Service app which you are currently running.  This is typically installed in the following location:

 C:\ Program Files (x86) \ Zetadocs Expenses Connector \ Zetadocs.Approval.Connector.Service.exe

  • If the version is 3.3.18178 or later then you do not need to take any further action.  Otherwise download the latest version of the connector then follow the instructions in this technote to upgrade your system.

Please contact Equisys Technical Support if you need any assistance upgrading your Zetadocs Expenses Connector for NAV.

Don’t delay

ACS retirement will not be delayed by Microsoft, and there is an increased risk of reduced service levels or other issues during the extension period after November 7, 2018. Don’t leave it until the New Year to upgrade your connector, running the risk of service disruption. Act now!
