FIX: Zetafax Server shuts down when converting a corrupted TIFF file

Print

ZTN2094

ID: ZTN2094

This Zetafax technical note applies to:

  • Zetafax Version 17 with Document Rendering Add-on

Symptom

When a corrupted TIFF file is passed into Zetafax Server with the Document Rendering Add-on licenced, the Rendering Add-on attempts to convert the file and fails with the following loglines:

GETFILEINFO call failed, Stellent error = 16: The viewer is not currently viewing a file

DOCTIFF returned error code -5

The Zetafax Server then shuts down.

Cause

When the Document Rendering Add-on fails to convert the file, the default Zetafax rendering engine attempts to convert the file. This second conversion attempt also fails but with the undesired effect of shutting down the rendering engine, resulting in a shutdown of Zetafax Server.

Resolution

This fault was corrected in a hotfix, which is available by contacting Equisys Technical Support and quoting the technote number ZTN2094. This hotfix causes Zetafax Server to fail the fax gracefully rather than shutting down.

Status

This behaviour was corrected in the hotfix detailed above.
